My name is Aimee (Dumont) Keene.
I was born and raised in Nashua, NH USA. I am 33 years of age, and mother of 2 handsome boys, Logan and Gideon and our daughter Kylie.
As a stay-at-home-mom, I still do my best to find time to create art.
I began my love of art as a teenager at the age of 15. I started out sketching animals from magazines and photos using a regular #2 pencil. As I learned of all that was available for mediums I expanded my curiosity and tried whatever I could get my hands on. At first my favorite medium was monochromatic pencil. I also did a little painting in acrylic, mostly on furniture or signs, etc. Then I discovered soft pastels. That now has become my most favorite medium as I can really get my hands “dirty”. My favorite subject has been animals, but now with my boys I find that I want to try to master the human form. I have recently delved into Oil Painting and find it fun to work with, however, I find that I tend to still blend things with my fingers instead of using the brush all the time. It is definitely a medium that I intend to do more exploration with, and I am proud to have had this opportunity to share what I know. Besides monochromatic pencil, acrylic, and pastels, I also have done some Pen & Inks of houses and landscapes and a couple Watercolors. Most of what I know has been self taught, and I am always eager to learn more.
I attended Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, GA from 2002-2004 studying for Industrial Design. I have not been able to complete my degree since my children have become my priority, but I am currently enrolling in classes at New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester to get my degree in Art Education with a concentration in Painting.
Currently, I along with my husband, 2 boys, daughter, and our dog (Wolfgang, a Longhaired Chihuahua), reside in Concord, NH USA. I am happy to say that I am a stay-at-home mom, and love being home with my children. I am always eager to work on an art project when given the opportunity. I am very thankful for this God-given talent and will use it to the best of my ability for as long as I am able.
I look forward to meeting new clients and always enjoy the excitement of the finished product.
I am also the Founder/President of a Non-profit center in the Manchester/Concord area that will allow people of all ages to take classes free of charge and use space to work on their own art projects. I am in the process of getting registered as a non-profit company and will create a website soon. I will also start giving fee online classes via youtube.com and add that to my website. I will keep updates on this site until the Center is on it's way to success. The name of the Center is the Aimee Keene Artisan Center. If you would like to make a donation to the center you can do so via paypal or my Links & Info page. Donations are greatly appreciated and will be needed to rent a facility and get the program running. My goal is to have $100,000 by Jan 1, 2010 to be able to open the Center June 1, 2010, please help us reach this goal!
